AccuPoint
® ATP
Sanitation
Monitoring System
The AccuPoint system combines an advanced hand-held instrument, unique sampling devices that are
superior to conventional swabs, and intuitive software for easy data tracking and analysis. The
design of AccuPoint’s sampling devices, available for both surface and liquid applications,
provides greater sampling effectiveness and consistency. The samplers use a large surface
area sample pad and sturdy design to consistently collect and detect potential sources of product
contamination. The increased pressure that can be applied with AccuPoint’s samplers make them
better able to penetrate surface crevasses, and break up existing biofilms to capture previously undetected organisms.
AccuPoint® is used
to:
Validate the effectiveness of a sanitation program by detecting food residue and microorganisms
present on surfaces and in liquids. The system utilizes easy-to-use AccuPoint samples,
which automatically mix prepared reagents to quickly generate results.
The Test :
The AccuPoint system utilizes adenosine triphosphates (ATP) bioluminescense to determine the cleanliness of the test samples.
ATP is a chemical compound found in all living cells, including bacteria, food debris, yeast and mold. Bioluminescense is a chemical
reaction that produces light. ATP bioluminescence occurs when ATP from a sample comes into contact with luciferase, an
enzyme found in fireflies
, and luciferin, a substrate. The amount of light emitted in this reaction is proportional to the amount of ATP detected in a sample.
After a sample is taken the sampler is pressed into its cartridge in the monitor, breaking its seal and initiating the mixing of reagents. The
cartridge contains a buffering solution, which flushes the ATP onto a pad containing the reagents. The reaction takes place within
the cartridge and a detector measures the amount of light produced. The reading is displayed on the LCD display in the relative light units (RLU).
According to preset limits, an icon is displayed indicating a pass, marginal of fail result. These limits are defined by the operator or by
using system presets. Features:
- A simple, symbols-based character set and optional automatic station
incrementing.
- A solid-state monitor that uses photodiode technology to provide
years of rugged, reliable operation.
- A rechargeable nickel-metal-hydride battery that provides longer
operation and off-the-shelf battery replacement — with no memory
degradation.
- A revolutionary docking station that provides the easiest battery recharging
and computer interface. Just placing the unit in the docking station
recharges its batteries and allows easy uploading of sampling data.
- Water testing devices for use in the food and beverage industry, and
industrial and environmental applications such as cooling towers and process
water.
